"Left Behind"
by: Billy J. Pomerleau
(C) January 2009
If I could turn off time
I'd go back and make things right
But unfortunately things will never be the same
Since that dreadful night
I told you not to fall for me
I knew my time on this earth would be short
And the one thing I never wished for
Was for you to end up hurt
But before my hands were even cold
An others kiss was on your mind
Although I'm now gone
Should I regret
The life I left behind?

"Hero"
by: Billy J. Pomerleau
(C) January 2009
I wish I had it in me
To be the hero you think I am
But in my current position I want
Nothing then to bury my head in the sand
I see the pain and sorrow
Escaping from your eyes
Every moment that I watch
The more my poor piteous heart dies
I with there was more to this old wretch
But unfortunately this is me
Withering away in despair
Pain, grief and self-pity
I don't have it in me to be your hero
I hope now you can see
It would be better for both of us
If you learned not to depend on me

"Don't Worry"
by: Billy J. Pomerleau
(C) December 2008
I'm sure they've told you
Everything will be okay
But you haven't given me a chance
So please listen to what I say
There's no reason to worry babe
Everything will work out for the best
Just grit your teeth and swallow your pride
Tell me what you need to get off your chest
Then look into my eyes
And read my lips
I'll make sure everything is alright
Let's work together to battle this wrong
And between you and me we'll make it right

"Final Toll"
by: Billy J. Pomerleau
(C) November 2008
My thoughts feel sharper now,
As feelings of despair
Evaporate all my lies and truths
Into the crisp autumn air
My heart beats faster now
As I feel the blood drain
Slowly, as death
Suddenly washes out the pain
My mind is clearer now
As strife from the past
Quickly fades
And I realize this breath will be my last
My eyes lay vacant now
And my soul
No longer hurts
And death finally takes -
it's final toll
----------------------------------------
No Idea where this came from, I was just randomly inspired and wrote it (3 drafts) in about 20 minutes. I'm still not completely sure I like the order in which the verses come. C'est la vie.

"When Her Irish Eyes Are Smiling"
by: Billy J. Pomerleau
(C) August 2008
Dedicated to: Tricia
Those Irish Eyes
Like large green pools
Twinkle, as you smile
Your innocence and naivety
Wafts off you like a child
And deep inside
I know its me
Who sets your heart on fire
And I can see
Through pools of green the truth of your desires
You can try to run
You can try to hide
But really, you have no chance
Because when your irish eyes are smiling
I can read your desire for romance
So come over here
My wee pretty lass
While this music is still playing hot
Put your arms around my neck
And let me show you what I got
And if you can keep
Those pretty eyes
From smiling in my direction
Then you'll win and I'll give up
Following my obession
But either way
You need to know
The power you have at hand
For when your irish eyes are smiling
There is nothing more beautiful in the land

I was literally given a title, and asked to write a poem based on it. This is what popped out. :)

"Muse"
With quick wit and a smile
Reguardless of the time
She's there all the while
Her quaint ideals
fill my heart
She inspires so much
Her words are an art
The light in her eyes
Always sparkles and glistens
And when she speaks
You have no choice but to listen
How can you ignore
The beauty of my muse
There is no way to fight it
There's no way to refuse

"Angel"
What you might ask?
I was haunted again
By the ghosts of the past
But although I was down
She made things seem right
Her presence alone
Makes my world seem bright
With only a kind word
And a smile from her
My life was changed
The past seems a blur
She's an angel it seems
When life keeps on jeering
Her beauty is ageless
And her presence endearing

"You're Like Mold"
It's time to go
But you won't
Why, I do not know
You're like mold
Just sticking around
You won't leave my side
It's like your legs are bound
I'm tired of your tribulations
It's time for you to get a life
Put the past behind you
Let's move on from this strife
But you're like mold
And you're still here
Doing nothing but growing old
And not going anywhere, I fear

"The Harvester of Sorrow"
As you hunt for your prey
I know where you'll be going
Come the cover of the day
But now in the quiet darkness
I see the expressions on your face
And my heart skips a beat
As I see you begin chase
Why didn't I warn her about this monster?
Why did I cower in fear?
Why won't I run and help her escape?
Even though secretly I sit so near
I'm now no better than he is
My pride deflates by my mute tongue
My eyes are cold and joyless
The beating of my heart unsung
If I were only a little stronger
I would have protected her whom is so dear
But now it is all over
And the truth has become so clear

"Pills"
So whatcha gonna do?
One more scene like that
And the madness will shine through
They keep on complaining
But that's nothing new
So I'll ask you one more time
Whatcha gonna do?
An other pill to make you sane
Just keep on playing their game
And other pill to make you right
Don't even try
Don't even try to fight
Did you take your meds?
We'll know if you lie
There is no escape
So don't even bother to try
You'll live like this forever
Until the day you die
Don't try to run or hide
For there is no escape
Your life is a lie
